Nature walks in Amsterdam

Shorter nature walks in Amsterdam that are easy to reach and selected with the idea of developing a respect for nature in children growing up in the city.

I grew up next to nature and spent much of my youth within it. I think it helped make me respect and value nature anywhere in the world. Observing children in Amsterdam, I find that many are disconnected with nature. These walks are selected to take a minimum of time, with the idea that they are done regularly, perhaps as a Sunday morning routine.

Most of these walks have interesting things for children to see or do enroute. This includes playgrounds or farms, however any route is as interesting as you make it. For example, take a pair of binoculars and see what birds you can spot. Or butterflies, dragonflies, flowers, fungi...

The map shows a selection of walks I think are suitable for children. Most are pushchair friendly; it's never to early to form a bond with nature.
